Epiphone 1964 SG Standard Reissue with Maestro Vibrola Electric Guitar - Cherry Red
The 1964 Gibson SG⢠Standard is one of the most iconic guitars of all time, famously played by legends such as George Harrison and Eric Clapton. By this year, the SG design had truly come into its own: the clunky Sideways Vibrato was gone, replaced by the smooth and reliable Maestro⢠Vibrolaâ˘, the neck profile was slightly beefed up from the wafer-thin early â60s versions, and for the first time, the SG fully stood on its own without the âLes Paulâ name.
Now, Epiphone, in partnership with Gibson⢠Custom, proudly introduces the Epiphone 1964 SG Standard Reissue with Maestro Vibrolaâthe most authentic recreation of the â64 SG Standard ever offered at this level.
This reissue features a two-piece, center-seamed mahogany body with the classic deep bevels that define the vintage SGâs lightweight comfort and unmistakable style. The one-piece mahogany neck, carved to a fast and comfortable 1960s SlimTaper⢠profile, is set with a long neck tenon for superior stability and sustain. A bound rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays and period-accurate headstock details, including an aged Epiphone logo and Gibson crown inlay, capture the vintage vibe.
Tone comes courtesy of a pair of Gibson USA Custombucker humbuckers with Alnico 3 magnets, hand-wired with CTSÂŽ potentiometers, Black Beauty paper-in-oil capacitors, and a SwitchcraftÂŽ toggle switch and output jack. The Maestro Vibrola tailpiece provides expressive vibrato effects with smooth, vintage-correct response, while nickel hardware including Epiphone Vintage Deluxe âDouble Ringâ tuners and a Tune-O-Matic⢠bridge ensures reliability and period accuracy.
Every Epiphone 1964 SG Standard Reissue with Maestro Vibrola includes a black hardshell case with Inspired by Gibson Custom graphics, gold hardware, and a plush goldenrod interior.
