Gibson 70s Explorer - Dark Walnut
70s Rockers
When the Gibson Explorer⢠was first introduced in 1958, it didnāt exactly set the world on fire. Futuristic in its shape and way ahead of its time, the model became more popular as the years progressed. By the 1970s, the model was being embraced by rock musicians who appreciated its unique styling and aggressive tone. It has travelled to stages around the world, but now the Gibson 70s Explorer is available for a new generation of guitarists to discover.
The 70s Explorer features a solid mahogany body with the iconic Explorer shape that is paired with a mahogany neck with a fast-playing SlimTaper⢠profile. The Indian rosewood fretboard is equipped with 22 medium jumbo frets and adorned with acrylic dot inlays. A 12ā fretboard radius makes it equally easy to play first-position chords or deep string bends higher up the neck with no risk of them fretting out.
The classic and instantly-identifiable Explorer scimitar-shaped headstock is fitted with smooth-turning Grover® Mini Rotomatic⢠tuners and a Graph Tech® nut to ensure solid tuning stability. The other ends of the strings pass over an aluminium Nashville Tune-O-Matic⢠bridge and are anchored with an aluminium Stop Bar tailpiece.
This is a guitar that begs to be cranked up and played loud. The hand-wired electronics that power this 70s Explorer include a pair of powerful 70s Tribute humbucker⢠pickups that recreate the fat-toned sound and rich sustain of the Explorer models from the 70s era, with each pickup wired to its own volume control, while a master tone control with an Orange Drop® capacitor provides even more tonal adjustability.
All three controls are equipped with black Speed knobs for great functionality and a classic aesthetic. The 70s Explorer comes packaged in a Gibson hardshell case to help keep it safe when in storage or traveling to your next gig or jam session. Explore all that the 70s Explorer has to offer, and make your own mark on history with this iconically bold and powerful guitar.
